COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on 10th March 2020. National governments have put in place measures to curb the spread of this disease which is highly contagious. These measures include hygiene i.e. washing hands regularly with soap and water, using hand sanitiser with an alcoholic base and social distancing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all in one way or another, even our AICs have not been left the same.

The OAIC encourages the member churches to comply with the guidelines provided by national governments and WHO on how to prevent the spread of the disease, supporting the people infected and the caregivers.

We as the OAIC and the member churches bring a message of hope, hope derived from the Word and Prayer, from being a community and presence.
We acknowledge that dealing with COVID-19 has posed challenges like the loss of livelihoods and the disruption of life as we know it.

In response to these challenges, the OAIC has chosen to follow a framework that is Pastoral, Prophetic, and Factual and this has been realised through listening to and working with our member churches.

The core of our ministry is being present in the community, especially in places where people are living in economically challenging circumstances, sharing our resources, bringing healing to broken lives and sowing seeds of hope as we point to the resurrection and life of our Lord Jesus Christ.
