What does International Woman’s Day mean to you?

International women’s day is celebrating women’s achievements while recognizing that there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve gender balance. It means pushing for better gender balance at work, in politics and in families and women truly being equal partners and having equal say in issues that affect them.

What does it mean to be a woman in the part of the world and society you live in?

To be a woman in my society means working hard for victory in all sectors of life.

Which woman in the Bible inspire you? How can you relate her character in today’s challenges faced by women within your local community, and globe?

My Bible inspiration is Deborah from the book of Judges whom God used to give victory to the Israelites where men were afraid to heed his command. She had total faith in God and this gave her fearlessness and confidence to go into a battle and deliver victory.

What woman’s themes are impacting you most greatly in your home or work?

The themes impacting me greatly this year are women calling out toxic masculinity, communities collaborating for gender balance and improving working conditions for women and mothers and women/gender dimensions in climate change. Through Just Communities program- tree for life project, OAIC ensures women have access to livelihoods and have the voice and means to take a stand on climate action by engaging them as stakeholders and shareholders in the protection of natural resources such as trees and using the same to uplift themselves economically. This initiative contributes towards reducing women’s economic vulnerability which means they are better positioned to demand other social rights.

Happy International Women’s Day
