OAIC has recently opened a new national chapter- OAIC-Burundi. On August 10th, 2009 the leadership of over twenty African Instituted Churches met in Bujumbura, Burundi to approve the new chapter's launch.

According to its leader, Bishop Simeon Nzishura, the Burundi Chapter now has over thirty registered member churches. Its programs focus on theology, refugee resettlement, peace and reconciliation, and the empowerment of women, young people, and children. In May, 2010 Burundi will undergo political elections. OAIC Burundi as well as the entire organization pray for a peaceful transition of power and an end to the fighting that continues to plague the country.
